Several doctors who served in the LTTE controlled areas during the last days of the humanitarian operation say that the Tamil people faced immense hardships due to LTTE atrocities at that time. The LTTE that experienced severe shortages of cadres to face the advancing troops used to abduct teenagers between 11 years to 14 years and forcefully conscripted to war activities. The LTTE cadres even used the no fire zone to launch attacks to the government security forces. They used civilians as a human shield to direct the international attention towards them. The doctors pointed out however, the government managed to totally defeat the terrorists and rescue the Tamil civilians who had long been suffered under the hand of the LTTE. Doctors made these observation at a press conference held in Colombo today.
