It is very clear to all your valued readers that the Eelam Chorus is gathering momentum, not only in the Indian political arena, but also in some countries where a significant Tamil population lives. This is evident from the smashing of Sri Lankan, Indian and Chinese Embassy Offices located in U.K., Norway and India and a number of well attended protest rallies held in Canada, U.K., France, Italy and Scandinavia. In a way this is understandable when tens of millions of dollars, earned and contributed by the foolish and misguided Diaspora, have gone waste and their Eelam dream had vanished at least temporarily.
We only hope that Indian statements, particularly from Jayalalithaa (and Karunanidhi) is only election rhetoric. She stated that she will send the Indian Army to carve out an exclusive Eelam from our island for Tamils.
Sri Lankans, particularly the majority community, along with some segments of the minority communities, are concerned about the developing situation. The separation of India from Pakistan, culminated in one of the most tragic episodes the world has ever known. Perhaps Jayalalithaa was not born at the time of separation and she is strongly advised to read well documented books on this subject before running into a fool’s paradise.
Will the 55 percent of the total Tamil population living in the South amongst Sinhalese and Muslims be able to continue to live peacefully with self respect if this happens? Certainly No. They will be compelled to return to their ‘homeland’ voluntarily or otherwise, if separation is forced on us. No Indian politician should dare even to think of such a step unless they want to see an end to Sri Lanka and India itself!
In a worst case scenario, if an idiotic set of politicians take power in India what can our leaders do? Will the present leadership submit to an invasion as JRJ did?
Internationally, the powerful West would be only onlookers and will be quite happy to see the foundation being laid for the disintegration of India into Dravidastan, followed by independent Punjab Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Assam, and many other linguistic racial, religious and cultural units of power. The UN will be helpless without the backing of the West. If so what alternatives do we have?
Before this situation develops, we will have to devolve political power to the North and East (not to a merged province) as envisaged under the 13th amendment which is of paramount importance. In brief, due place should be given to the Tamils and other communities in these provinces, to manage their affairs without giving room for the creation of a mono-ethnic state with an incentive for separation.
Secondly, we must think of establishing a comprehensive defense pact with friendly nations, like China, Pakistan and even Soviet Russia.
