The Eelam dream of the LTTE terrorists shatters. The Security Forces have already succeeded in taking control of all towns of the Wanni which were under LTTE domination.
The LTTE was initially deprived of Silawatura in Mannar by troops of the 58th Division on 2nd September 2007. Thereafter, the troops liberated Madhu on April 21st. From then onwards, the LTTE lost their power in the 40 main towns in the Wanni. On 21st August last year the terrorist were deprived of Nachchikuda.
They lost Pooneryn on November 15th, while the troops captured Nallur on November 16th. The Kokavil town was captured on December 1st and Nedunkerni on December 20th. The humanitarian operations further strengthened. With the dawn of 2009, the 57th Division overran Kilinochchi on January 2nd.
Thereafter, Elephant Pass was captured linking the North and South by land. Troops after taking control of Mullaitivu, Vishwamadu and Chalai captured the Puthukuduyiruppu Junction on Tuesday the 34d.. Accordingly, the LTTE is now restricted to a small area. The troops are launching heavy attacks on several centres including Puthukuduyiruppu East to dislodge the terrorists from the area.
